Questions

Route questions, answered

Scholarships, nurses, doctors and the Opportunity Card.

Can I study in Europe for free with a scholarship?

Yes, if you win one, but competition is intense. Erasmus Mundus joint master's scholarships cover participation costs and pay €1,400 a month for up to 24 months. Pakistan topped the awards for the fourth year running in 2025, with 114 scholars. You apply directly to each programme, usually between October and January. Not every programme offers scholarships for every intake, so check before you apply.

What are Stipendium Hungaricum and DAAD EPOS, and who can apply?

Stipendium Hungaricum is Hungary's government scholarship: free tuition, a monthly stipend, and a dormitory place or housing contribution. Pakistan had 400 places through HEC for 2026-27, from bachelor's to PhD, and applications closed on 15 January 2026. DAAD EPOS funds development-related master's degrees in Germany for professionals with two or more years' relevant experience after their bachelor's and a degree no more than six years old. EPOS deadlines often fall in October, a year ahead.

Do nurses pay anything to work in Germany through you?

No. You pay no placement or recruitment fee, because the German employer pays it, and we work only through a licensed overseas employment partner. For full recognition you will need B2 German, although a recognition partnership can let you start work with A2 while recognition is completed. Ask us for the full list of language and paperwork costs before you commit. Never pay anyone a "job fee".

Can a Pakistani doctor work in Germany, and how long does it take?

Yes, but plan for about two years before you practise. You need B2 general German and a C1 medical-German exam (Fachsprachprüfung). Your degree must then be recognised for a full licence (Approbation), often by passing a knowledge test (Kenntnisprüfung) if your training is judged not equivalent. A temporary, supervised licence to practise is possible beforehand. Keep your home-country medical registration current throughout.

What is Germany's Opportunity Card, and do I qualify?

The Opportunity Card (Chancenkarte) lets qualified professionals live in Germany for up to a year while looking for work. You can work part-time for up to 20 hours a week and do two-week job trials. You need a degree or two-year vocational qualification recognised at home. You then qualify through full German recognition or by scoring 6 points (experience, German, age and so on), with at least A1 German or B2 English. In 2026 you must show €1,091 a month (€13,092 a year).

Questions

Country questions, answered

Costs, work rights, deadlines and where to apply, checked against official sources on 19 October 2026.

How much does it cost to study in Germany from Pakistan?

Tuition is free at most German public universities, but for the visa you must show €11,904 in a blocked account (€992 a month). This amount has applied to all visa applications since 1 January 2025. Baden-Württemberg charges non-EU students €1,500 a semester, and every university charges a semester contribution of a few hundred euros. Check the blocked-account amount again before a 2027 application.

Can I work while studying in Germany, and stay after I graduate?

Yes. Non-EU students can work 140 full days or 280 half days a year, or up to 20 hours a week during lecture periods, with no limit in semester breaks. Student-assistant jobs at universities don't count toward the limit. After graduating you can get a residence permit of up to 18 months to find a job that matches your qualification, and you may take any work meanwhile. Good jobs usually need B1–C1 German.

How much does a master's in Ireland cost for a Pakistani student?

Expect full international tuition, which varies widely by course, so check the fee for each programme. For the visa you must show at least €10,000 in accessible funds for the first year, and the same again for each later year. With Stamp 2 permission you can work up to 20 hours a week in term and 40 hours in the holidays (1 June–30 September and 15 December–15 January). Dublin rents are high, so budget for them.

How long can I stay in Ireland after my master's?

Master's graduates (NFQ Level 9) get a 12-month Stamp 1G permission. It can be renewed once for another 12 months if you show you have been actively looking for graduate-level work, for up to 24 months in all. Honours bachelor's graduates (Level 8) get 12 months. Total time on student and graduate permissions is capped at eight years, and you can use the graduate programme no more than twice.

What is the deadline to apply for an Italian student visa?

For degree programmes in the 2026/27 academic year, you must apply for the visa by 30 November 2026. For 2027/28 the deadline moves earlier, to 31 October 2027. First you pre-enrol on Universitaly and wait for your university to validate the application. In Pakistan, the Embassy's visa centre (BLS-Intiana) then emails you an appointment, in order of validation date. Start early.

How much does it cost to study in Italy, and what is a DSU grant?

Italian public universities set tuition by family income. Regional DSU grants can waive tuition and add free meals, housing or a rent contribution, plus a cash grant, depending on the region and your family's income documents. For the visa you must show proof of funds set by the Italian mission, and we confirm the current amount for you in your route-plan session. DSU deadlines come early and need translated, legalised family-income documents, so start a year ahead.

How do students from Morocco, Algeria or Tunisia apply to study in France?

In these countries you apply through Campus France's online "Études en France" procedure, which runs on a fixed yearly calendar. Campaigns usually open around 1 October for the following September. In Algeria, for example, the 2026 intake opened on 1 October 2025 and closed on 15 March 2026. Deadlines differ by country and level, and missing a step usually means waiting a year, so check your country's Campus France calendar now.

What are tuition fees in France, and can I stay to work after my master's?

For 2026/27, non-EU students at public universities under the higher-education ministry pay €2,902 a year for a bachelor's and €3,950 for a master's, though some institutions grant exemptions. Graduates with a master's-level degree can get a one-year, non-renewable residence permit to look for work or start a business. Algerian students are excluded from this permit and fall under the Franco-Algerian agreement, so their rules differ.

I live in Dubai on a residence visa. Where do I apply for my European visa?

Normally at that European country's embassy or visa centre where you legally live, not in your passport country. For Germany, the Consulate General in Dubai accepts UAE residents whose Emirates ID residence permit was issued at least six months before the application. Other missions work on the same principle but have their own rules, so we check the mission responsible for your city in your route-plan session. Your residence permit, its expiry date and your sponsor's documents all become part of your file.

Questions

Fees and refunds: your questions answered

Straight answers about what we charge, what is refunded, and what we never promise.

Do you guarantee a visa or admission?

No. Only embassies decide visas and only universities decide admissions, so anyone who promises you either is not telling the truth. We will never guarantee a visa or an admission, and we will never sell or "arrange" an embassy appointment. What we do put in writing is this: published fees, a lawyer-reviewed contract, and half of your package fee back if your visa is refused.

How much do your services cost?

A 45-minute route-plan session costs PKR 5,000 (about US$18), and the fee is credited in full to any package. The Europe Standard package costs PKR 150,000 and the Premium package PKR 350,000. Prices for clients in Pakistan include sales tax. Language classes are paid directly to the partner school with no mark-up, and nurses going to Germany pay us nothing because the German employer pays.

Do I get my money back if my visa is refused?

Yes. Half of your Standard or Premium package fee is refunded if your visa is refused. The exact conditions are set out in your contract, which a lawyer reviews, so ask to read them before you pay.

Are there any extra costs on top of your package fee?

We never add "processing fees" later, and every Edification price is published before you meet us. Language classes are paid directly to the partner school with no mark-up. Costs charged by others, such as embassy visa fees, university application fees and exam fees, are separate and are paid to those bodies, not to us. We take payment only by bank transfer with a receipt.

Questions

Spotting scams: your questions answered

How families can tell a genuine route from a scam.

How can I tell if a study-abroad agent is a scam?

Walk away from anyone who guarantees a visa, sells or "arranges" embassy appointments, asks a nurse or worker for a "job fee", keeps your passport or original documents, or wants cash without a receipt. The Italian Embassy in Islamabad says that neither it nor its visa centre has an official WhatsApp number, and that neither charges anything to book a student-visa appointment. Ask any agent for published fees and a written contract before you pay.

Someone is offering me a job in Germany if I pay a fee. Is it real?

Treat it as a warning sign. In legitimate nurse recruitment, agencies carrying Germany's "Fair Recruitment Healthcare Germany" seal ensure the employer covers all recruitment costs and that agreements are in writing. A real job route also needs your qualification recognised and, usually, German at B1–B2. Never pay a job fee to an unlicensed person, never pay before you have seen a written contract, and get the contract reviewed before you sign.

About Edification

A global careers institute, built in Lahore for the region

Edification helps graduates and professionals from Pakistan, the Gulf, the Levant and North Africa build careers in Europe, through study, language and skilled work. We believe the honest answer is the most valuable thing we sell, even when it is "not yet".

What we believe

What does Edification and Careers do?

Edification is a Lahore-based advisory firm that helps students and professionals from Pakistan, the Gulf, the Levant and North Africa plan study and work routes to Europe, mainly Germany, Ireland, Italy and France. Who runs Edification, and how many students have you helped so far?

Edification was founded by Shikoh Lashari. Our first students are applying for the 2027 intake, so we have no placement numbers to show yet. Our first yearly outcomes report, which counts refusals as well as visas, will follow that intake.
